Beautiful home on the crystal clear waters of Deer Lake in Itasca County MN. Rustic wood home interior and exterior will give you the feeling of solitude like no where else, and that is what vacations are for! Home is newly remodeled inside and out and has all the modern amenities you will need to feel comfortable and at ease on your vacation. Home is located on a private road with only one neighbor who rarely is seen. It is a quiet road and a quiet lake that boasts trophy fishing for Walleye, Bass and Muskie. Sit on the deck that overlooks the lake for gorgeous sunsets in the evening, or just listen to the loon calls that are nesting in the bay while sipping your morning cup of coffee. Take a dip in the water off the end of the dock, hard sand bottom and no mud! There is a dock and boat lift for you to use, so bring your boat or your toys. There is a short walkway to the lake with stairs, just a few feet from the waters edge. The home is designed for the "up north" feel. Wood tongue and groove along with hatchet hewn log siding for interior finishes will make you feel as if you were in a cabin in the woods, because that is what it is! Just a few hundred yards away is a great trail for walking and mountain biking or hunting in the fall for Ruffed Grouse. The area boasts many other lakes to drop your boat in such as Lake Winnie and Lake Pokegama, although you will likely rather fish here where it is one of the best fishing lakes in the area. There is also Grand Rapids and Deer River close by for groceries and movies or fine dining. There are several golf courses nearby including Pokegama Golf Course, Ruttgers on Sugar Lake, Eagle Ridge in Coleraine and Blueberry Hills in Deer River. An hour and a half away is Giants Ridge and The Wilderness at Fortune Bay for the more adventurous and experienced golfer. There are more opportunities here in the differing seasons. If you are a autumn lover, the color tour is close, and with all the deciduous trees, its a magical time of year to say the least. The area has some of the best bird hunting in the state, some of which is only a few hundred yards away on public land. If you are a winter lover, take your snowmachine right through the front yard onto the lake and fish through the ice! Ski on public trails or on the lake itself, snoeshoe or just relax in the home on a cold day and dream. This truely is a year round place to experience, there is no shortage of things for you and your family to do to stay busy, or not busy at all. Sometimes just lying around without the hustle and bustle of everyday life is all you need, this home is your perfect getaway for that too. This home is available year round, so ice fisherman bring your gear, excellent fishing after freeze up. Snowmobilers bring your machines! Easy access to trail system from the lake, and you can drive right to lake with our private atv/snowmobile trail! A few notes: 1-If you are allergic to Yellow Labs, be aware that we have two of them who have been in the cabin. We did our best to clean up hair but there will always be some hiding somewhere. 2-Bring extra outdoor chairs. There are 4 on the deck. 3-Bring your own ice cubes and drinking water. This is well water up here, and if you come from a city, you are drinking from city water which is treated, sometimes you can have a distaste for well water even though this is good enough for us. 4-we have bugs here in the northland. Mosquitos and spiders are common so bug spray is a good idea. 5- there are steps to the lake. There are 30 steps total, so plan on a little exercise if you are coming off the water. See pictures. We are always on call so if you do book some time here and you need information, advice or anything you do not understand, call us! We want your stay to be memorable for the right reasons.

Our private peninsula has been a Northwoods destination since the 1950's when it operated as Mallard Point Resort. Although the resort days are over, the cabin tradition lives on here at The Point. This is one of two cabins that have been completely renovated into cozy guesthouses and stocked with everything you need for a lakeside getaway. **COVID 19 POLICIES** We are still taking reservations and following recommended cleaning guidelines. About the Property Mallard Point is still reminiscent of the resort it once was, just smaller and more peaceful. Cabin 2 is one of two guest houses for rent on this private peninsula, in addition to the owner's home. Each cabin has its own fireplace on the lake and other outdoor spaces are shared. It's a great setup for those who want a relaxing or adventurous getaway but enjoy meeting others. About the Cabin The cabin features high ceilings with large windows that face south for exceptional views of the lake and natural light all day long. A simple, open format living and dining area accommodates 4 people comfortably. The kitchen has a gas range and is stocked with all the essentials- cookwareware, dishware, coffee, soaps, towels, etc. The loft has a quality king-sized bed and the ground floor bedroom has two twin beds with linens and extra blankets included. The cabin is winterized and has a gas fireplace so you can warm your toes after skiing or curl up with a good book after a long week of work. What We Love About It We love the access to the lake, it's all around, and so easy to get out paddling, fishing, sailing, snowshoeing, or just take it in from an Adirondack chair. You can expect to see other guests or our family enjoying the beach, grilling out, or fishing on the dock. You'll also likely see otters, beavers, loons, and eagles just outside your door. Prairie Lake is quiet and has little boat traffic, lots of undeveloped shoreline, and picturesque rock walls at the southern end, perfect for paddling adventures. The water is shallow and gradual along our little sand beach for small children to splash and build sandcastles. Our location is halfway between downtown Grand Rapids and the Chippewa National Forest, it's just 10 minutes to get to XC ski trails, hiking, trails, and premier fishing lakes there. Cabin (1050 sq. ft.) in Grand Rapids, MN
5.9 miles from Deer Lake
Our private peninsula on Prairie Lake has been a Northwoods destination since the 1950's when Mallard Point Resort opened. Although the resort days are over, the cabin tradition lives on here at The Point. In addition to these two cabins, the owners reside on this property full-time as well. The cabins have been completely renovated into cozy little guesthouses and are stocked with everything you need for a friends weekend or multi-family lakeside getaway. Enjoy staying right on the water with 330° views of quiet Prairie Lake. It feels away from it all, but you're minutes from town. The Space Our two cozy, lakeside cabins sit side-by-side along the lakeshore adjacent to our own home. They feature natural light all day long, with high ceilings and large windows that look out onto the water. Each cabin has a loft with a quality king-sized bed and two double beds in the lower level bedroom. Together the cabins sleep 8 people. Cabin 1 sleeps 4 and has a dining table for 4. Cabin 2 has a slightly larger living and kitchen area with a dining table that accommodates 6 people, beds for 4, and space for a queen air mattress. It’s is a combination of modern and rustic, with warm, natural wood finishes, an open living and dining space, and a kitchen and bathroom stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay. There is Roku connected TV in each unit (Note that these are not set up to use with your personal streaming service and is NOT connected to basic channels) and super-fast WiFi. They are winterized and available all winter so you can curl up by the fireplace and warm your toes after skiing or with a good book after a long week of work. What we love about it We love that we feel tucked away, but we're close to everyone. It's just 10 minutes to downtown Grand Rapids and 10 minutes north to the National Forest. Being located on a peninsula also means that we have lakeshore on either side instead of neighbors. Each cabin has its own firepit and charcoal grill in front, but otherwise all outdoor are shared. You can expect to see other guests or our family enjoying the beach, grilling out, or fishing on the dock. The surrounding area has exceptional XC ski trails within 15 minutes. We also groom our own circuit on the lake. You can access snowmobiling trails directly from our property via the lake. The Lake Prairie Lake is quiet and has little boat traffic, perfect for paddling and fishing. We have two kayaks and a canoe available for guests. Visit the rocky gorge, reminiscent of the Boundary Waters, at the south end of the lake, take in sunrises and lake breezes on the dock, and enjoy watching beavers swim past and listening to the loons sing. The water is shallow and gradual along our little sand beach, perfect for small children to splash and build sand castles. We have two docks and space for two boats. The Property The Point was a resort in years passed and it still has a resort feel to it today, just smaller, slower-paced and more peaceful. Our family lives here on the property as well. Each cabin has its own space out front, but other outdoor areas are shared. Property Amenities: ? Two kayaks ? Two paddle boards ? Canoe ? Boat trailer parking ? Dock space for boats ? Fire pits and firewood ? Lawn chairs ? Life jackets, ? Picnic tables ? Cabin (1801 sq. ft.) in Bigfork, MN
9.5 miles from Deer Lake
This gem of a vacation spot is a diamond in the crown of Minnesota’s beautiful North Woods. Start with a charming, 3+ bedroom log cabin, that was built in the 1960s. The solidly built log home is decorated in a style that will make you feel at home, immediately. Then, picture this home, nestled in a pine & balsam fir studded landscape, that will take your breath away. Roam this 5 acre island, and discover nature’s gifts in the nooks and cranny‘s that are hidden everywhere. See the 400 Sq ft treehouse with ping pong table and gathering spot in screened area overlooking the lake. The nice thing about an island, is you don’t have to worry about your children, or pets, because you have the entire island to your self. Note: The cabin has all modern appliances, including a full kitchen & two bathrooms. You will notice a 1960s flavor with the bright red-orange stove and other decorations which brought me back my childhood memories and were fun to see again! Enjoy the cozy great room at night, or on a rainy afternoon, & it will bring you back to the days of your youth at your favorite aunt or grandma’s house (if you were lucky enough to have one). It may bring you back to the happiest times of your youth, as well as create new warm memories for the youngsters. The expansive porch faces south, so you can see the beautiful lake in the background and enjoy a campfire & roasting marshmallows at night. Antler Lake has only 10 other cabins around it’s 350 acre’s, and boasts bass, panfish, perch, and northern pike fishing. You will need to borrow a boat or bring your own to access the island which is less than 1/4 mile from landing. We have a pontoon available if you would like to rent at a very good rate SAFETY NOTE: The health of our cleaning team and future guests is paramount. Alert us if any guests exhibit any symptoms of Covid 19 so we can act decisively.
